I am beyond thrilled to bring this episode to you all. I had a great time talking with Shahid Buttar about music and politics. For those who don’t know, Shahid ran for Congress in 2020 and 2022 as a progressive to represent California’s 12 district, my district, in San Francisco. His opponent? Nancy Pelosi. He was able to win more votes than any opponent in over a decade. We talk about that experience, his music history, his substack that he writes for, and how Fela Kuti inspired his own music.
